In 1984, pharmacist Mike Boyd, and his wife Mary, opened Red Oak Drug in Red Oak, TX - the first of their locations. Mike and Mary later purchased The Prescription Shop in 2002 in Waxahchie, TX. In 2021, when Mike decided to retire, pharmacist April Powell stepped in as owner of the two locations. 

 

Pharmacist, April Powell, started working in an independent pharmacy as a senior in high school and has been in pharmacy ever since. She worked at a chain pharmacy right out of pharmacy school but her heart has always been for independent pharmacy.  In 2011, it came true as she started working as the pharmacist at The Prescription Shop.
